Handpainted Table Runners with Fabric Paint Polka Dots

A party I organised recently had a bunch of scruffy old picnic tables in the garden of varying sizes that were pretty scruffy looking.  I wanted to pretty the up, but didn’t have enough material to cover them fully.  These Handpainted table runners were enough to brighten them up, played over rolls of banqueting paper.Handpainted Table Runners with Fabric Paint Polka Dots

Materials

Fabric
Freezer Paper
Fabric Paint
Sewing Machine
Painting sponges

Method

I had a tab header curtain, that has been crying out for a repurpose for a number of years.  Use what ever fabric you have to hand.  Old bed sheets would be fine, provided they are clean  Cut the fabric into a strip or strips, and sew a hem round each side to prevent fraying.

Make circles on your freezer paper, in the size you want.  (I drew round a large jam jar lid).  Cut and iron randomly onto your fabric.  Apply two coats of fabric paint over the template leaving to dry in between.  Im impatient, and use a hair dryer to speed up this process.
