Simple Pasta With Butter Parmesan and Basil
Abbi is away on a school trip to France for the week. Mr PSGC is on a business trip to the US. Jamie is out at a friends house. The house is very quiet.
I can eat whatever I want.
I feel like I should be very indulgent, but I am feeling far too lazy to cook anything elaborate, and I have three episodes of Fargo to catch up with that won’t watch themselves!
Theres not a whole lot of food in the house, so I reach for Abbis favourite. Pasta tossed in butter with parmesan and basil leaves – Ok the basil leaves aren’t Abbis favourite
(….and maybe her favourite would actually be something involving Nutella, marshmallows and squirty cream).
The beauty of pasta with butter is 6 minutes from cupboard to plate. It probably took longer to photograph than it did to cook.
- Spaghetti Pasta
- Freshly grated parmesan
- Fresh basil leaves
Cook the pasta according to packet instructions until firm (al dente). Drain and return to the pan. Add a knob of butter, and season to taste. serve immediately with some basil leaves and freshly grated parmesan.
Wash down with a glass or two of wine.
Sometimes simple is best.
Obviously not the wine, but this is a guaranteed winner for even the fussiest of kids.
If you want to mix it up a bit, add the following extras:
- a couple of strips of smoked salmon, capers and a decent squirt of lemon juice
- roasted vegetables
- crispy bacon and onions
- sausage and sun dried tomatoes
