Mint Chocolate Bark into Clock Mint Crisps
I made this mint chocolate bark into chocolate mint crisp clocks for our New Years Eve Party.
Ingredients: This made around 10 chocolates for me.
- 100g of best quality dark chocolate with a high cocoa solid content (Green and blacks is good)
- 5 Mint humbugs or any similar mint sweet. Note. For those that dont know: Humbugs are a hard mint sweet, with a chewy mint centre
- A couple of squares of white chocolate & some stars, hearts or other sprinkles
Method:
Break the chocolate into small pieces, and melt gently using your own preferred melting method. Personally I always use a low setting on my microwave, stirring occasionally until all smooth. Set aside to cool slightly. If you can melt it in a microwavable jug, pouring the chocolate will be easier. Even easier, I melted this directly in the freezer bag.But if you do this, make sure the bag is microwave safe. It saves on lots of washing up. Just snip the corner to use as a nozzle.
Put the mints in a ziplock bag, and bash to smithereens with a rolling pin. Dont worry if they aren’t all pounded too much, its nice to have adhoc sizes. I like mainly humbug dust, with about 25% as slightly larger pieces.
Add the humbug crumbs to your chocolate.
Line a tray with baking parchment, and pour the chocolate into discs of around 4cm diameter. Leave to set.Melt the white chocolate gently, and pipe (hopefully better than my efforts) little dots where the numerals would be, and hands of the clocks at 5 minutes to 12. Forgive my very shoddy chocolate skills.
Decorate as you like for the numerals. Serve with coffee.
I also made a personalised versions with my friends initials in white chocolate, but unfortunately they were scoffed before I had a chance to photograph them. Happy New Year everyone.
