Just Be Thankful Ok! DIY Thanksgiving Banner From Recycled Catalogues
As an avid blog and pinterest reader, it would be easy to forget that we don’t celebrate thanksgiving in the UK. Us brits (and other nationalities) could end up feeling a little left out. Although we won’t be indulging in turkey and all the trimmings, I made this thanksgiving banner so PSGC towers could celebrate with our friends over the pond.
Materials
- Pretty magazine or catalogue pages – ideally black and white.
- Red Paper
- White Printer paper
- Double Sided Tape
- String
Method
I love all the beautiful catalogues that come through at this time of year – and always struggle to throw them straight in the recycling. In particular, the pictures in the Toast Catalogue are very aspirational. Definitely too beautiful to just throw away, and perfect for this recycled thanksgiving banner.
The catalogue is brimming with lovely photos (and things). Choose your favourite pages, rip out and trim. Enough pages for whatever message you want to make.
Next cut out the the white letters. I drew my letters freehand (very roughly) in pencil, and cut out.
My full message is maybe a little punchy for some, but I had a hangover.
Stick the letters down with pva glue or double sided sticky tape. Add red stars and embellishments to add a bit of colour. the red stars I used came from one of the coloured pages in the catalogue.
Fold over the tops of the pages, placing the string along them, and tape on place.

While I was making this, my children were making copious notes about their christmas lists beside me. I think the irony may have been lost on them.
