Halloween Spider Toast
If you want an easy, tasty fun food idea for your next halloween gathering, look no further than this delicious halloween spider toast. Simple enough that kids can make it themselves. Eat on its own as a starter, or serve alongside your favourite warming soup or stew.

Ingredients
- Garlic Bread
- Grated Gruyere Cheese
- Pitted Black Olives
- Soup
- Double Cream
Method
Either make or buy garlic bread. (to make: spread butter with garlic and herbs on thick sliced bread). Sprinkle liberally with grated gruyere cheese.

Each halloween spider toast slice needs one pitted black olive. Cut each in half length ways, and use one half as the body of the spider.

Cut the remaining half into 8 long strips, and arrange around the body as legs.

Bake in the oven at 180 C until the cheese is bubbly and melted.

Serve with your favourite soup. This is delicious with tomato soup, which would probably be my children’s favourite, however I served ours with this delicious mushroom soup . The colour of the mushroom soup works especially well with with spider web.
Pretty much any hearty thick soup – butternut squash, carrot or pea soup would work well. Alternatively the garlic toast would be great with chilli or a hearty stew.

For added halloween theming, add a dash of double (heavy) cream to the middle of the soup bowl.
Use a skewer to draw 4 lines through the cream to make spokes of cream on the surface. Finally add a few swags between the spokes to make a spider web effect.

Scatter the table liberally with spiders or other spooky decor and enjoy.
